Platform Based Craneage & Lifting Solutions

(Champion: Repsol Sinopec) – September 2019

Platform cranes are subject to heavy and variable activity at end of field life, and therefore availability and platform efficiency can be impacted by integrity issues through this excessive workload. Additionally, platform cranes may not be sufficiently flexible for the wide variety of decommissioning activities to be undertaken. There may be a period after platform cranes are decommissioned when lighter craneage or alternative lifting solutions could be deployed to provide a more cost-effective solution. The opportunity here therefore was to improve late life crane management to support efficient decommissioning activity, potentially using a combination of solutions complementing existing platform cranes, and with a focus on a commercial model that encourages reactive and flexible service.
